ALPHACUBE
UX // DIGITAL ASSETS // E-COMMERCE
Platform: Web app
Timeline: 5 months
For this Alphacube, I created a comprehensive end-to-end storefront experience for both admins and end users. The project included: a branded landing page, a backend system to allow admins to sign up and create storefronts, and user systems for browsing, purchasing, and collecting digital assets. I designed the UX flows for all of these components. Collaborating with a Visual Designer, I art-directed the final branding style and applied it to the UX designs I previously created.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The client wanted a desktop environment for managing storefronts, digital assets, and API documentation, including:
• Creating and managing storefronts for admins
• Designing customization options for both simple and advanced users
• Minting assets for sale on storefronts
• Designing the end-user experience upon landing on a storefront"
This client’s platform allowed users to create and customize storefronts using proprietary tools for layout, theming, and styling. I designed the complete user experience, including:
• Outlining storefront details (name, user, URL)
• Setting up layout and site architecture
• Styling and branding the storefront
The ‘building block’ platform I helped create allowed users to customize storefronts extensively. Users could place and size content blocks on pages, then customize these blocks with style, content, and links. For a quicker setup, users could choose templated layouts and modify the blocks as needed. This approach enabled users to create storefronts that were either fully customized or templated and modified.
One key feature of the platform was enabling admins to create and mint digital assets for sale. The platform needed to support various asset types and sale methods, with the ability to scale for future additions.
I designed a modular asset creation process that allows for easy integration of new fields for future asset types and methods, minimizing the need for rework.
With AlphaCube, I had to design for two distinct user bases: admins and end users. This challenge was both refreshing and enjoyable. Every design decision was made with careful consideration of how it would impact both user types. Balancing the needs of admins who control the end-user experience with those of end users created a dynamic and rewarding design process.
The project took an interesting turn. Initially, I was to handle UX design and hand off the visual work to another designer. However, due to shifting priorities, I also contributed significantly to visual design.
Overall, this project was monumental, involving numerous flows and screens for different user groups. It was a challenging and refreshing experience that allowed me to tackle complex design problems and learn a lot.
